POEM - The New Boyfriend

The New Boyfriend

I’m happy for you
So, he’s the one?
Ok, maybe

I hope he is
you need to be free

I’m still worried
about the carping
yes, I left the tooth paste cap
off

It’s lonely,
just the evenings

At bed time
between the sheets
I fall asleep
but never get warm

You walk and talk
the sex?

It matters
passion
knowing
that we
matter to
each other

It defined us

Just don’t let me go too quickly
gently leave me

Mark Wilkinson - Everything To Me

Another of his bests.

Mark Wilkinson - When I'm Not Around

Mark Wilkinson is touring the USA this week.  Check his webpage markwilkinsonmusic.com for the tour dates and locations.  He is one of the best poet, singer, songwriters playing and performing. He has a new CD out, "Wasted Hours."

Enjoy this video.  This is one of my favorite of his songs.

POEM - Chaos

Chaos

You’re not here
Your departure final and complete

The photograph is all that you could give me
all that is left

We took your new camera
and a stranger shot our pose together

The smile
The tenderness
It was love
so I thought
and planned

The photo cheats
harmony
Each departure was sweet
no argument
no anger
just my heart and mind
in chaos

Each time together
ending on a lonely dark country road
with the headlights
providing just a glimpse
to the future

Patrick Wolf - The Days

The Days
The days, passing days
I see the steeple and trace to the spire
And the sunset
Deepening red
Phoenix and the firefly
And the time stops
Rush hour traffic slows
And my heart starts beating this dark
Through old flesh and cold bones
And I long to be carried on
Just once to be lifted strong
Out of the loneliness and the emptiness
Of the days
Days, passing days
The days I remember
I had your love once
Seized my body whole
And our first dance
Well, I thought by chance
God had matched my soul
But time bought its traveling
This distance and solitude
And in that traveling, myself damaging
I took my love far, far from you
But don't you still long to be carried on?
Once more I could lift you strong
Out of the loneliness and the emptiness
Of the days
Passing days
Passing days
Days
Now tell me
Have we gone too far or did we get too close?
Forgive me, Father, I've no son, here come, ghost
I promise I'll meet you
I'll meet you at the end of the days
The days, passing days

Won't you meet me at the end of the days?

Foul Play

Quietly they perched in their yard
Enjoying the flowers
as the large two legged beasts
hurried about

White as snow
they watched
at breakfast
at lunch
and at dinner
not needing a grain
to keep their vigor

They heard the buzz
of visiting children chattering
eager and at play
but from them
not a peep

With a clap like thunder
they flew from their nest
they attempted
a floor landing
but as eggs
went shattering

The calamity of this catastrophe
was eased
as the birds did not die that day

They flew on as a fond memory

The Party

Descending into the dark
a throbbing beat
stings the ears
as smoke
clouds the eyes

Where is the joy
in this warm yellow light
with so much laughter

The smile
a recognition
for whom
glancing away
cancellation of an invitation

The neon
red and blue
purple and green
to black
the scene unclear

The image in my mind
is not the reflection in the mirror

Time is muffled
the conversations
not heard

Casual transmission
confusion
disappointment

Left is the stickiness
wet rings
and ashes

Ascending into the day
passing

are you ready for the changes
