CITY STREETS

The cracks in the sidewalk
It wasn’t youthful passion

The rain pours
This river of love rushing

Professed
It can’t be retracted

In the shop window
The seared reflection of rejected

The city streets crowded
This ache won’t move

The traffic stalled
Got’a get to the place I started

BECOMING THE WIND

In the garden
the sun passed the day to the moon
passionate night
turning to dawn

The never ceasing ripple
of the creek water passing
as the birch leaves clap
you stroll with me

Through the meadow
the gentle sway of the grass
as the golden finches dart
we walk our path

At the hilltop gazing
East our spring
South our summer
West our autumn
North our winter

POEM - TRANSFERRENCE

Hold my hand
All I needed
You were there
Searching no further

Hold my hand
All I enjoyed
Time to breath
To our eternity

Hold my hand
All I had
Was winter’s return
Being one

Hold my hand
All I wanted
In my life
Summer returned

Hold my hand
All I wished
A place together
Sunshine never burned

Hold my hand
All I know
Risks of steps
Writing each page

Hold my hand
All I asked
A place and time
To your eternity

Hold my hand
All I have
Is winter’s return
Being one

Art Experiment: Study 1

I am experimenting with incorporating Rudy’s feathers in paintings. Study 1

Nate's Meadow

My friend Nate gave me Maryland wildflowers to plant in the meadow next to my building.  I have seeded the meadow in the past with Black-eyed Susan seeds. When I told Nate about the meadow he gave me some indiginous plants that we both hope will spread.

POEM - STAIRS

In this chapel
I descend to the crypt
searching the darkness
amongst broken idols

Without asking
I made the offering
It did not measure
so I left it on the altar

There is no tomb
for me
mine
is not in this place

The webs and dust
drift in my wake
the steps
providing the passage

THE CIRCLE

as I drifted
hearing the leftovers
of the party
soft sheets
could not soothe to sleep

not invited
I wandered
who enjoyed
the laughter and
fraternity shared

the crowded streets
the horns of traffic
the sirens warned
as spring left
later than when

author's note:
Yes "wandered" not "wondered" both have a bit of loss, and searching: one physically the other mindfully. The stanza contains both.

POEM - Holding On

HOLDING ON

I see you smiling
Standing in the garden
I knew I'd loved you all my life

Lying on the lawn
When we touched
I came alive

We took the chance
It was you and me
But, time ran out

Now, there are things
I can't give away
The hurt will always stay

Life is harder
I need someone by my side
So why are you just standing there

Through the veil
Standing in the garden
I hold on

(Thanks Reuben Bidez for helping me transition. We are always the sum of our lives. I bring to my future, my past.)

Hike - May 11, 2018

Beau and my hike started at Charcoal Hearth and looped to Thaddeus Stevens Trail.  We found a quiet picnic spot for our lunch and water.  After lunch we walked down to the stream. We drove back to Frederick taking the back roads first to Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, and then to Emmitsburg, Maryland and on to home.
