POEM - Passages

Passages

The seagulls cried
as the waves lapped the shore

There was no buoy bell clanging or horn forewarning
marking the channel
of the still morning hours slipping by
the darkness
drifting
to sunrise

The seagulls cried
as the current moved the minutes, hours, on

The us
was changing
as our journeys separated

I once promised
that it was for always

That moment exists

Always
The seagulls cried
